Deep Tissue Massage is commonly misunderstood modality. It gets the assumption that “Deep Tissue” means “Deep Pressure”. But there’s so much more to it! Similar to Swedish Massage, the client will lie on a massage table and remain modestly draped by the therapist. Deep Tissue focuses on stretching FASCIA, a three dimensional web of connective tissue that surrounds and supports all the muscles, bones and organs. The therapist will work layer by layer through connective tissue and muscles down to the deepest accessible layers of muscle.

Deep tissue work creates micro-tears in the fascia, which fill with elastic and collagen in about three days, creating muscles that are more flexible, supple and have a greater range of motion. Deep Tissue work shouldn’t be painful; a well trained therapist will work very slowly, within the client’s tolerance, however it can often result in a little soreness after
